About this event

The GGC honors National Coming Out Day each year on October 11th as a celebration of all LGBTQ+ identities. It marks the anniversary of the National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights on October 11, 1987. NCOD is a time of celebration of embracing oneself authentically, as well as being a day dedicated to raising awareness of civil rights for the LGBTQ+ community.

We provide a space for anyone to share their coming out story in person or anonymously. Attendees can also connect with various affirming offices and student organizations on campus who will be tabling. The goal is to foster an inclusive environment on campus where Comets of all gender identities, expressions, and sexual orientations feel included and affirmed!

Come join us for music, snacks, and stories! Have a story you would like to share? Join us the day of the event or fill out the form linked here. All submissions are anonymous.

Pre-registration is recommended to speed up the check-in process on the day of the event and to give the GGC an estimate as to how many attendees we will have. A valid UTD email address is required for pre-registration and we will ask to see your Comet Card at the check-in on event day. This event is for current UTD students, staff, and faculty. Requiring UTD email addresses and Comet Cards help us ensure that this event remains accessible to our campus community. If you register with a non-UTD email address, we will cancel your ticket and reach out to you about re-registering. Thank you for your understanding!
