PLE Summer Update
June 16, 2022
Dear PHamily,
On behalf of the PLE staff, we would like to thank our parents/guardians everywhere! Your patience, perseverance, and affirmation for supporting educating our students from home never meant more than this past year. You worked harder, worried more, and cared more fervently. May the summer offer respite and may we all celebrate that our students are richer for having had you in their lives. Please enjoy this staff video: Microsoft Stream
Our PLE offices will be closed from June 24th until August 15th. Please check our PLE and BSD website for updates. Next school year, our theme will be "Together For A Better World"! Thank you for voting and helping us to choose our theme for 2022-2023. We worked together this school year more than ever and we want to continue to celebrate and embrace our unity.
Please take the time to enjoy the summer with your kids and we hope to see everyone back in September!
In partnership,
Dr. Macias, PLE Principal
Thank you for joining us!

The district is monitoring enrollment closely to adjust classrooms through the end of August. Based on our current enrollment, Phantom Lake has been allocated the following classrooms:
2022-2023 (subject to change based on summer enrollment)
K: 2 Classrooms
K/1: 1 classroom
1: 2 classrooms
2: 2 classrooms
3: 3 classrooms
4: 2 classrooms
4/5: 1 classroom
5: 2 classrooms
Our staff will be working together to complete student placement before the summer. As mentioned, it is important to enroll new to PLE students early to ensure we have the appropriate classroom numbers.

Nutrition Services Updates 2022-2023
Free Summer Meals
Children 18 and younger are welcome to participate in the free summer meal program offered by Nutrition Services. The summer meal program provides free, nutritious meals to help children get the nutrition they need to learn, play and grow. Summer meals will be offered at Lake Hills Elementary and Sammamish High school.
Learn how to access summer meals through BSD and other providers in our region.
Reduced Meals
As we prepare for the reopening of school on September 1, 2022, families should anticipate that free meals will no longer be available for all students attending a BSD school. With the expiration of USDA waivers at the end of this school year, Nutrition Services will return to traditional methods of payment for school meals (free, reduced price or paid).
Look for the 2022-2023 application for school meal benefits online on the Free & Reduced Price Mealswebpage by August 15, 2022.
New: Students determined to be eligible for reduced price school meals will be able to receive lunch for free. Due to new state funding, the $0.40 copay for a reduced price lunch will no longer be collected. Students eligible for reduced price school meals will continue to receive breakfast for free in schools that offer the program.
