Ring in spring with the HSO! This blissful concert features HSO Concertmaster Leonid Sigal, the Hartford Chorale, and guest conductor Jacomo Bairos and celebrates beauty, hope, and growth. William Grant Stillās moving pieceĀ Spirituals: A MedleyĀ brings you a sense of renewal that carries throughout the program. Laloās Symphonie espagnole was an inspiration for Tchaikovsky to compose his famous violin concerto, and he enthusiastically described the piece as having āa lot of freshness, lightness of piquant rhythms, of beauty and excellently harmonized melodiesā.Ā Vivaldiās Gloria is one of sacred musicās most uplifting choral works and its radiance and poignant sound will ring throughout the concert hall.

Under the direction of HSO Assistant Conductor, Adam Kerry Boyles, we welcome pianist and UConn professor, Angelina Gadeliya, performing fellow UConn Professor and GrammyĀ® Award winner, Kenneth Fuchsās Piano Concerto, āSpiritualistā-a piece inspired by three paintings of Helen Frankenthaler. His first numbered symphony, Prokofiev chose to compose his Classical Symphony without the aid of the piano and each movement is brief and to the point in the true āClassicalā style. Mozartās Overture to The Marriage of Figaro includes some of the most famous and hummable tunes in classical music and created a revival in the city of Prague for the composer.
We are dedicated to the thoughtful SHARING of BEAUTY, to the belief that the collective experience of live music lifts the spirit with a sense of awe & WONDER, and that the COMMUNITY formed in these gatherings are bonded by a universal language and a contract of unspoken values that continue to grow beyond one experience. Because itās musicāafter all.
