Garrett “Hawk” Hawkins may be a bad boy in the rink but he doesn’t know what to do when he’s wrongly accused of on-ice misconduct. Given a five-game suspension by the NHL, he heads to a resort in Oahu to lay on the beach for a few days and get his head on straight—until he runs into a troubled beauty who happens to be the sister of his ex-teammate.

Madison Teller is struggling to get past the trauma of her brother's brutal attack, but her much-needed vacation is turning into a nightmare. The sexy tattooed stranger who saves the day is just the distraction she's looking for, but she isn’t prepared for the way he makes her feel.

Whilst I’m not a huge fan of couples falling in love very swiftly, good writing, involving both a complex situation and how the characters acknowledged that the future would not be smooth, made this work for me. I do like this authors work and this felt somewhere between the Inferno series and Adonis in Athens.

The two main characters are well fleshed out and felt very real, Maddy was a strong, determined and thankfully forgiving woman. I really liked both her and Garrett/Hawk – even if he was very stupid in not just BEING HONEST with Maddy once he knew who she was. That said we wouldn’t have had much of a story!

The book took roughly 2 hours to read, so falls right on the cusp of novel and novella for me. The majority of the book kept to one location and interactions between the hero and heroine which, in my opinion, allowed the author to bring more depth to the characters and their emotions. The story does refer to an event in Temptation’s Inferno. I’ve read this book and whilst you can very much read this as a standalone, I do feel I understood and enjoyed this become more because I knew Jamie’s story.

The book is well written and I find the author’s writing style easy to read and follow. The plot moved at a good pace and kept me engaged throughout. Whilst I always struggle with declarations of love within a few days of meeting, Maddie and Garrett had been together 24/7 and did have both amazing and believable chemistry.

I thoroughly enjoyed this mix of Kat’s Ice Hockey ‘world’ with Roxanne St. Claire’s Barefoot Bay ‘world’. I would have liked to understand/know what made ‘cucumber’ make that press statement and also to have had a longer story (just because I loved reading about Maddie and Garrett) but that’s just me. Despite its length this still had a captivating story, lots of emotion and characters who had depth and is a book I am more than happy to recommend to all.

5 star Review Tropical Inferno (Inferno #4) by Kat Mizera

Although a novella Tropical Inferno still managed to pack a lot into it. Professional hockey player Garrett “Hawk” Hawkins swoops in and rescues Madison Teller when she really needs it.

Poor Madison, so far her holiday has been a true nightmare. Hawk being the man that he is offers to help her out, not knowing that his past is just about to collide with his present.

Accused of something he didn’t do, Hawk has escaped to Hawaii to make decisions about his future. Madison is in Hawaii trying to get over the vicious attack that nearly killed her older brother as she suffers from nightmares and stress.

The attraction between Hawk and Madison is strong but once Hawk realises who she is, he knows it shouldn’t go further.

However their chemistry is too much to ignore and they cannot help but fall deeper and deeper. What will happen when the truth comes out?

I really loved Hawk and Maddison, they brought calm and peace to each other. They were each other’s missing piece and I really wanted everything to work out.

The story line was strong, my only complaint (and it is not really a complaint) is that I would have loved this to be a longer story.

Kat Mizera kept me engrossed from chapter one and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

One of the things I love about kindle worlds is that you don't actually have to know anything about the series they are a spin from to enjoy them. Each story is their own world, they just have characters very loosely connected to the bigger world/series. It's a fantastic way to introduce yourself to new authors without investing 300+ pages ... cuz you never know if an author is for you and life is too short to read books that aren't for you. That's exactly what I did here. I've wanted to experience Kat Mizera for a while now and this gave me the perfect opportunity. I'm glad I finally did because this was delicious!

Here's something else I want to give the author props for...she made insta-lust realistic. Too many times author just assume falling in love quick is no problem because it's fiction when in reality, no one wants to read unrealistic fiction. And falling in love quickly and turning your world on a dime can be complicated and probably not smooth sailing. That should be acknowledge in books. If it isn't, then we're just reading fantasy land. I'm not a fan of Fantasy Land LOL So Kat does this well. The conflict in their journey is real and relatable and it makes you root for them!

This story had surprising depth to it for its length and the plot unfolded flawlessly. The chemistry was very well done from the beginning. I personally think the story would have been better suited as a HFN ending, but it's not my story so .... Overall, I'm impressed with the author and I will happily invest in her work in the future!

This one was very sweet. From a crazy meeting to so much more! I was sort of glad that Garrett kept who he was hidden when he realized who Madison was, they needed the time to get to know each as people. What Garrett was hiding was bad, but when you knew the real story, not so bad, he was in a rock and a hard place with what to do, either way he was going to lose. I did like that he was going to do the hard thing and stand up for what was right and take that hit, at least he would have had a good woman at his side when he did. But better was that he didn't have to. It made the party at the end all the better!

Tropical Inferno by Kat Mizera is a sexy tale of accidental love on holiday. I adored Hawk and Madison's story and fell for these two almost as quickly as they fell for each other. Vacation nightmare to dream was a great touch by the author. Tropical Inferno is just the right mix of romance, tension and heat. Grab your sunglasses, towel and bathing suit and dive into this taste of a beautiful sunny destination that will having you dreaming of your toes in the sand.

A very enjoyable short story. Its quite different that the usual ice hockey romance I've read. Was quite surprised at the reason of the hero's so-called misconduct. But it really gives a personal impact to the story.

This book is about Madison. Madison is the sister to Jamie Teller. If you have read the Sidewinder books by Kat you will know who he is. You don't have to read them to understand this book. It is a standalone book. Madison got ditched by her friend who was going to take a vacation with her. She ends up going by herself to Hawaii. She isn't able to afford to stay where she was going to stay with her friend so she checked into a very cheap/seedy hotel. She was going to check out and see if she could fly back early because it was that bad. Gunshots change that and introduce her to Garrett aka "Hawk" Hawkins. He was a former teammate of Jamie her brother and in some hot water on vacation himself. Not knowing who she is, he invites her to stay at a resort with him. Will the controversy keep them apart? Or will they overcome it?

A swoon worthy whirlwind novella! It goes without saying that Kat Mizera is one of my favorite authors. She always packs in so much into one story and Tropical Inferno is no different. A fast pace read, this novella was entertaining and captivating.

Despite both Garrett and Madison running in similar circles, they don’t meet until they are both in Hawaii. Both are trying to get away from life. Garrett also known as the Hawk, in the hockey world, is being suspended for something he didn't do. Nonetheless he is suspended from playing and is told to stay low key while the entire situation blows over. Madison is trying to get away from the recurring nightmares and stress that have taken over her life due to a brutal attack on her older brother.

The chemistry between Madison and Garrett is dynamic. They are meant for one another, but what happens when they realize who the other person is? Madison has no idea Garrett is a professional hockey player, let alone one that was suspended for something he said to her brother. Garrett puts two and two pretty quickly, but not fast enough. He had already started developing feelings for Madison when he realizes she is related to Jaime Teller, another hockey player. And the reason for his suspension.

Will Madison run from him the moment she realizes who he is?

Their relationship is instantaneous, love at first sight. Madison and Garrett have a lot riding against them, but they form a bond that is hard to break. They learn to trust one another, they balance each other out, they are each other’s calm after the storm.

I loved this story from beginning to end! I wish it was longer, but I know it is a novella and not a novel. With that said, I can not wait for the next installment in this series.

5 tropical stars!

Maddies holiday in paradise in Hawaii gets off to a bad start. Her best friend had bailed on her so she went on her own and ended up in a hotel that was a bit of a dive with paper thin walls. To top things off her luggage had been lost luckily she had put a top & some underwear in her backpack so she at least she had one change of clothes. Unable to get any sleep due to noisy neighbours she decided to get up early. While on the way down to her rental car the alarm went off as some guys were trying to break in and she yelled out to them. Soon she found herself shot at and before she knew it she was getting knocked to the ground and covered by a guys body. Garret had come out thinking it was his rental car alarm going off only to see Maddy yelling and then getting shot at. When the guys ran off he got up and helped Maddy up introducing himself. Garrett decided it was time to find another hotel which turned out to be the original hotel Maddy was going to stay at before her friend bailed. Unfortunately, there was only room left so he took it and worry about the sleeping arrangements later.
Garrets on a break in Hawaii to figure out his future as he was fined and also received a 5 game suspension for something he hadn't done but got the blame for. He was torn as he couldn't reveal the real culprit because of the unwritten rule of being a snitch. To his horror, he finds out he is friends with Maddy's brother so he doesn't reveal his true surname to her so she doesn't remember or know who he really is. They start falling for each other with Garret feeling torn with his love for her and his fear of her finding out what he's been accused of. I received a copy (thank you) to do an honest review for Naughty Nightie Book Blog. You'll fall in love with Maddy and Garrett and feel everything with them. I loved Garrett and Maddy with their great love for each other which is a struggle at times with the secrets which are hidden but keep getting in the way. You wont be disappointed once you start its hard to put down.

I just loved this book, the characters are great and you can't help but fall in love with both Hawk and Madison. Madison is having the worst luck ever with her vacation which she really needs after going though so much with her brother, Hawk is on time out after some terrible words were said that make him look like the worst person ever. They both need to unwind and enjoy themselves and wanting just a holiday fling but neither of them are expecting things to go further. The book has a great pace and develops well leaving you biting your nails to see what will happen next and will they ever get their happy ever after!

Garrett Hawkins has been suspended from the league for something he didn’t do. He finds himself in a no win situation. He is damned if he accepts the notoriety that comes with his suspension. If he rats out his teammate, he’ll be considered a liability in the locker room that no one wants to play with. He heads south during his suspension and finds himself not only in a crap situation, but also in a crap hotel.

Madison Teller has been fighting stress and anxiety ever since her brother Jamie almost died after being attacked. At her therapist’s suggestion, she booked a vacation to the Blue Dolphin Resort with her roommate. Unfortunately, when her roommate backs out, Madison has to downgrade her accommodations and finds herself in a seedy hotel that doesn’t quite look like it did online.

When Madison’s vacation goes from bad to worse, Garrett steps in to save the sexy stranger, only to realize she is the sister of his ex-teammate Jamie. Will he be able to keep his secret for the duration of their vacation or will reality come crashing in before their time in Mimosa Key is up?

I loved that Kat Mizera gave us Madison’s story! We first meet Madison in Kat’s Inferno series. She’s feisty yet fragile. Strong and independent, yet in need of a helping hand. When Garrett steps in to literally save the day, Maddie is completely unaware of who he is, which allows her to get to know the real Garrett and not “Hawk” Hawkins, suspended hockey player.

Garrett is immediately drawn to Maddie, yet tries to keep his distance as much as possible because he doesn’t want his situation to hurt her even more than she has been in the past. I loved how supportive he was of Maddie’s dreams, even though they just met and how he was willing to give up his career if that is what ended up keeping her safe and making her happy.

Tropical Inferno really is a whirlwind of a romance, but has a great cast of characters, including appearances from Jamie and Viggo from the Inferno series, and a fast moving plot that was extremely engaging to read. The ending is spectacular as both Garrett and Maddie are forced to make life altering decisions once reality intrudes on their unexpected vacation romance.

I couldn’t put this book down, and finished it in one sitting. It’s a perfect vacation read! 5 stars!

This one will heat you up!! (5 stars)

Tropical Inferno is another sweet and sexy addition to her ‘Inferno’ series. This one centers around Garrett ‘Hawk’ Hawkins, a bad boy NHL-er who was wrongly accused of an on-ice misconduct. While serving out a 5-game suspension from the league, he takes this time to sort himself out when he runs into a different type of trouble in the form of Madison Teller, the sister of his ex-teammate that the misconduct centers around.

All Madison Teller wanted was a little escape, a small reprieve from all the turmoil in her life, including the trauma of her brother’s brutal attack. Then destiny intervenes placing a sexy, tattooed bad boy in her path and the heat between these two is off the charts! Denying it can only go so far as these two just smolder off the pages.

This is another fantastic read by Kat Mizera and an amazing continuation to the series. It has everything you would expect from this author – well written characters as well as a great storyline filled with emotion, sweetness and some seriously sexy fun! A truly enjoyable read.

This book was such a great novella, about Hawk and Maddison. Being on vacation and meeting the man of your dreams is such a romantic way to be. Even though there are obstacles between them they fight for the love they share and want to keep. ( sigh) 💕 this was such a great read as book #4 I can’t wait to read more hockey romance.

Garrett "Hawk" Hawkins is in Hawaii to get away from the bad press having to with his suspension from the NHL for an on ice misconduct he has been wrongly accused of. Hawk is reevaluating his life, and what will happen if his hockey career is over. Madison Teller is in Hawaii for a much needed vacation. Madison has nightmares and still struggles with the trauma of her brother's vicious attack. Hawk and Maddie meet when he protects her when her car is being vandalized while staying at the same run-down motel. Hawk offers to let Maddie stay with him at a nicer hotel until she flies homes at the end of the week. Hawk and Madison are attracted to each other, but Hawk fears Maddie will hate him when she learns who he is and what he had been accused of. Hawk and Maddie realize they have a lot more in common than amazing chemistry. Hawk and Madison give into their attraction and agree it will only last till Maddie leaves, but they find that they are falling in love with each other. Will Hawk leave Maddie to protect her from his messy life? Can Maddie forgive Hawk for not telling her the truth? Can Hawk and Maddie get past the ugly allegations against Hawk and find their happily ever after? Kat Mizera is a MUST read author. Tropical Inferno is a fantastic story that had me laughing out loud one moment and tearing up the next. Tropical Inferno has drama, romance, and lots of hot, steamy sex. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting Tropical Inferno by Kat Mizera. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.

Maddie Teller needs a holiday to recover from a stressful time following a severe homophobic attack on her brother but when her friend changers her mind at the last minute Maddie has to make alternative accommodation arrangements which turn out to be less than ideal.
Garrett "Hawk" Hawkins is on suspension from his pro hockey team after being wrongly accused of making a homophobic slur.

A chance meeting lands these 2 together and sharing a suite at the hotel Maddie had dreamt of going to. Garrett then realises she is the sister of the person he is accused of refering to in the slur. He decides to hide that from her so she can enjoy her newly recovered holiday and because he is intrigued by her.

Can this last or will it blow up in his face.

Brilliant story and fantastic characters. Never judge people by appearances

Reworked and back in charge, this book is better than the original, Tropical Ice, and I adored that book!
Loved this quick romance! Hawk, although a bit at war with his feelings is in a place where he needs Maddie without realizing it. Madison needs a breathe of fresh air herself and finds it in Garrett, they find one another at just the right time.
I loved feeling like I was part of this story, every emotion come to life. I could feel the sand and water on my skin, smell the salty sea air through my nose. The sensory was great for pulling me into the story.
I would definitely recommend this book.

Let me start by saying, I am so glad Madison got her own story. If you are a fan of Ms. Mizera's books, you will already know this character. When she tries to take a relaxing vacation with a friend and things go totally left, she runs into Garrett, who is trying to find his own escape. While he is on suspension, he goes to clear his head and finds Maddie instead. Two people who were looking for nothing but peace, will they find love? This was a great, quick read and I loved it! ~Helen

Kat Mizera has quickly become one of my go to authors for hockey romance. This book does not disappoint. Maddie and Hawk encounter each other on a not so relaxing vacation. This chance meeting leads into a steamy love at first sight romance. Their story is exciting but when thoughts of going back to reality set in, they both have decisions to make. The author knows her hockey and knows how to balance romance with sports. This book is a a fun read. Highly recommend especially if sports romance is your favorite genre!

A fast, can’t-put-down read

Book 4 in the Inferno series, and also loosely tied to the Sidewinders series, I’m relatively new to the author as I’ve only read a couple of the Sidewinder books so far and none of the previous Inferno books. I thought this held up well as a standalone, but does include some brief appearances by previous characters and references to events from earlier books, so for the richest experience, I’d suggest reading the series in order. One note icymi: this is an updated version of Tropical Ice, which was previously part of a Kindle World.

As I’m coming to expect from this author, Maddie and Garrett are great characters, and the author drops in just the right amount of information at the right time to give you what you need without bogging down the story. There’s action right from the start, and plenty of chemistry, and the author did a wonderful job of sucking me in. We quickly find out that Garrett is hiding out from a scandal, but not knowing exactly what happened really keeps up the tension, especially as he’s sure Maddie is going to be upset and hurt over it.

A novella length story, with engaging characters plus all the action, chemistry and tension, this was a fast, can’t-put-down read for me, and I’m going back to read those earlier books I missed. 5 stars

Oh. My. Gosh. This was SO SWEET. It was not at all what I expected, but I enjoyed this book immensely. In fact, I enjoyed reading this book so much that I started to pick up all of the other books of this new to me author, even though all of them can be read as standalones. I just loved the characters, laughed out loud more than once and rooted for/with them that they would solve their problems and have their HEA.
The characters were well developed and real and I have to admit, I never met a sports hero who was as sweet as Garrett was. I loved him so much. He was honestly one of the most perfect sports hero I have ever read about. My heart hurt so much for him and what he had to endure all the while keeping his mouth shut and his heart on the line. I really liked to see how love made him see what was important for him in his life and how eager he was to change the things that were thrown in his way. I disliked “Cucumber” almost immediately. I mean, how could you keep your mouth shut and not realize what was happening with your team mate? HOW? I hope Karma finds him.
The writing style was good and easy to read, sucked me right into the story and made me root for the characters. I could totally feel what they were feeling and shed more than one tear of joy and angst with them. My only negative point is that the book could have been longer, because I didn’t want to leave the characters.

Tropical Inferno is a short(ish) story that I truly loved a ton. It has a insta factor to it, and usually those two factors don't always get the perfect rating from me, but the talented Kat Mizera was able to do so. See Madison Teller was supposed to take a vacation with her bestie, but said bestie decided to cancel for a man, and Madison still went by herself. Unfortunately, that landed her in the middle of a gang shoot out when she had to down grade her hotel to a worse part of Hawii. However, it also put her in the path of Garrett 'Hawk' Hawkins, who saved her, and they ended up spending a nice time together despite the not so good start. He is trying to spend the time off the radar after being suspended from hockey for something he didn't do, and once he finds out Madison's full name, he knows that he can't let her know who he really is. So he tries to just let her get to know the real him. They have chemistry in spades, and even catch feelings, but the scandal he's trying to avoid will find him sooner or later, so will Madison still look at him the same? You will just have to read it to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
