From the best selling series, Something So comes the spin-off series This is...

Zara Stone

All my life, I’ve said I will never date a hockey player. I know better because I’ve seen and lived it all. My father is a hockey god, my brother is the captain of the most successful NHL team in the world, and my brother-in-law also plays in the league. Their lives are complicated, so I went in the opposite direction.
I fell in love with a scholar. But instead of proposing marriage, he broke up with me.
Three months later, I saw his engagement picture on Instagram. I couldn’t let him get away with that. No, it didn’t matter what, I was going to make that man see that I did not need him.

Evan Richards
I was in the running to pass my point record from last year, ready to claim the number one spot in the league. On top of my game, I was riding my career high wave.
Then, Hockey’s Princess, Zara Stone tweeted me. She wanted me to crash her ex’s wedding.
The worst that could happen? A PR nightmare. The best? A fun night with a beautiful woman.
It started out as a game—something I’m good at. Her crazy idea twisted into something I wasn’t looking for, something neither of us wanted.

When push comes to shove, one thing runs through my mind:
This is Crazy. Also, this is crazy right.

This had me laughing out loud from the beginning til the end.

I mean, it was such a fun, light hearted and sweet story... I’m in love with Zara and Evan. Evan was such a cute character, so sweet and so sure of himself and what he wanted, that he just made me want it for him too. And Zara unsure but slowly giving in... and the big family dynamics, you can’t beat that in a good story.

There wasn’t a real problem, or bad situation they had to overcome, apart from the “evil” sister, but their dialogues and day to day scenes were too cute to handle.

Long story short, maybe I needed a break from assholes (I won’t repeat this, because I’m in love with them) because this was such a good read that I read it in one go and now I want more of their family.

That don't impress me much...

This is Crazy was OK, but there were too many times I was rolling my eyes to really enjoy it. I liked the family commitment, support and love shown between the characters and additional characters. The hero and heroine were able to communicate effectively so that any issues were resolved quickly.

BUT...

I did not need the brand names, excessive wealth and fame shoved down my throat at EVERY opportunity to understand that these characters had money. In the middle of a sexy scene, we even had brand names in the description. WHO CARES WHAT BRAND BOXERS HE'S WEARING?!? A sexy man in black boxers is appealing unto itself.

I get it, she's beautiful, she's sweet, she's amazing!! The overuse of *My sweet, Zara* got old, really, really old. The hero was a little too perfect, to be honest. His one stumbling in their romance was completely justified and he forgave her very quickly. Her excuse was LAME!!

Every time there was drama, alcohol was brought out to soothe, fix or celebrate. I'm all for a drink or two but even I found this excessive.

I'm sorry to say but I think my tastes in contemporary romance stories have changed. I think my age and lack of tolerance has impacted my beliefs in a fairytale...unbelievable romance. I was a little distracted by editing issues as well. Overly descriptive paragraphs that did not progress the story or enhance the scene, drove me a little crazy.

This is Crazy will appeal to a wide range of romance readers but unfortunately, it wasn't right for me. It had a mutual attraction between the hero and heroine, sizzling chemistry and a happy ever after to leave readers satisfied. I also bought this story for $1.00 which is a bargain.

This was such a miss for me. This was the lowest angst romance I've ever read and I was soooooo bored. The heroine gets dumped. She tweets to a hockey player for a date. He says yes. They date. They like each other. They get in one tiny stupid argument that lasts five minutes. They date more. They fall in love. SO BORING. Where is the conflict? Them not living close doesn't count as a conflict because that barely caused any sort of conflict in their relationship. I just read about a couple madly in love for almost the entire book and I just didn't care. I'm still interested in trying out this author's small town series, but I really didn't like this book.

This is Crazy is the first book in the “This is” series by Natasha Madison. It is Evan and Zara’s story. Zara thinks her longtime boyfriend is going to propose...instead he breaks off their relationship and is seen soon after on social media with another woman. Zara who has family connections to the NHL contacts her ex’s idol pro hockey star Evan for a date….to crash her ex’s upcoming wedding. Yep. He not only is dating someone...he is getting married. It started as a way to get a rise out of her ex, but it soon turns into something neither one expected.

My thoughts:

I loved this book! I was swooning hard on this one! I really loved both the characters of Evan and Zara. His sister left a lot to be desired...I wanted to knock her around the second time she showed up with his ex in tow. Man I get violent when I read lol….just for the record I have never hit anybody in my life...so these are very empty threats...well that and the fact that they are fictional helps. I especially liked the involvement of the secondary characters, and the bantering this produced. I enjoy when a series weaves in characters from the other books. The loyalty of these two families was palpable. My only complaint...I know this is going to sound super knitpicky but, the “My sweet Zara” references was so overdone! After a while it just seemed cheese and corny. This book had just the right amount of everything sweet, fun, humor, banter, sexy, and drama!! Im so excited to read the 2nd book in this series!

YIKES. What an awful book. I, as a black female, read lots of books featuring white characters but boy. If this isn’t the whitest thing I’ve ever read in my life I don’t know what was. One of the characters actually used the phrase “bye Felicia” in an honest to God conversation. My head was spinning. Besides the fact that she’s a personal shopper at Nordstrom Rack (which had me rolling my eyes) the language was really weird sometimes. Like when they kept saying “...of life”. Never in my life have I heard this phrase. Saying they want “the greasiest burger of life”???? What even is that??? Also, why do they even like each other so much? She was boring, he was boring, and I feel like they never talked about anything important. Not to mention every time they FaceTime they were “just slipping into bed...”. Every time. Every single time. It was so annoying. But the most annoying thing was that incredibly stupid pet name “sweet Zara”. I was physically repelled whenever he used it, which was ALL THE TIME.

We also got waaaay to many descriptions and brand names dropped in. Did you really need to give me a full layout of Evan’s house down to the kitchen cabinets? No no you didn’t. Did I need to know the brand name of every single outfit Zara wore? No no I did not! Was the author getting paid by the word or something? It was ridiculous.

Believe it or not I have more grievances:

Zara
-The most basic of white girls. I know I already said that but it really needs repeating

-She keeps talking about “The Old Zara”. Who is this woman? We never see that version and the only one who talks about it is herself. Like, she keeps alluding to this volatile past version of herself, but we never see any evidence of this. At all

-She would have the absolute weirdest reactions to things. She freaks out when she runs into her ex and gets super drunk. Then when Even gets upset about it, she claims that she gets drunk because she realized that she loves him?? No girl. I don’t accept that at all. Plus that whole meltdown with the sister and his parents? First, the confrontation with his sister was so not a big deal and it was embarrassing to watch. Second, she keeps going on and on to Evan’s mom about how she can’t cook, thus making her unfit to be with him???? What the what??? And she broke down in tears for BOTH interactions.

Evan
-Dude. Stop trying to buy people’s affection. This man sent her roses that cost $1,000 that last for a year, a giant fruit basket, AND a whole box of his team’s merchandise with a stupid note addressed to “sweet Zara”. All of this sent right after their first meet up. Not even a date. That’s super inappropriate and if I was her wouldn’t accept any of it. It made me really uncomfortable.

-The way he was talking like he was her father or something when it came to her clothes? Gross man. For someone who claims to know style, Zara would consistently choose outfits that weren’t right for the situation (A see-through white shirt when meeting the parents for the first time?). However the way he would talk to her about her outfits I did not like at all. They can have a regular adult conversation if he felt some type away about her clothes....

-He was so overbearing for the whole book. He’d say he didn’t want to do anything to put her off but the first time they met he already had his hands all on her. Then all that stuff he would post about her on Twitter? That’s a bit much.

-Speaking of Twitter. He proposed to her on the app.....what is there even to say? I couldn’t believe it.

TL:DR
This book was awful

I was really hoping to like this book because it had such an good plot and the blurb sucked me in but reading This Is Crazy left me feeling meh.... and a little bit irritated.

Zara who was expecting an engagement from her boyfriend, gets dumped and later finds out via Instagram that her ex has a new woman and has proposed to her so what does this crazy chick do... she tweets her ex’s hockey idol, Evan Richards, asking him to crash her ex’s wedding with him. I found that concept hilarious in the blurb but when I read the tweet in the book, it was just immature. The hash tag alone makes me roll my eyes at the childishness.

Evan immediately agrees which makes them exchange numbers and start talking. Their relationship practically takes a sprint from there on. Everything just moved to fast for me. It was also missing the drama that I craved. The most irritating thing about this book was Evan’s sister. She crossed the line so many times and practically nothing was done about it or it was brushed aside which infuriated me. I wanted to throat punch her every time she made an appearance. The book also had unnecessary details that were added.

This was the second book I’ve read by this author and will be my last. Unfortunately I didn’t like either of them. The book was poorly edited. In addition to basic typos/grammar issues, the book was WAY too descriptive. We knew the brand and color of every single item someone was wearing or of things in someone’s house. Not just once, but non-stop. The Hero also had a habit of calling the Heroine “sweet Zara” but said it so frequently that rather than being cute it was just cringy.

That aside, I did like the plot, and there wasn’t a ton of angst between the couple either, which was nice. All in all, if this book was re-edited I think it would be a huge benefit to the author.

Spoilers ahead,

This is a spin-off of the Something So series featuring The daughter if Cooper Stone.
Zara's boyfriend broke u with her and while she had been heartbroken he moved on and months later she sees his engagement photo on social media. This causes Zara to ask her ex's favorite hockey player to crash the wedding with her. To her surprise he answers the message.

Evan, NHL professional player didn't Know that responding to Zara's invite would change his life but when he meets her he's instantly captivated

This book gave me Aurora Rose Reynolds vibes, with the possessive, protective OTT Alpha hero. Evan's ordering her to change a couple times grated on me but all in all an ok read

Insta
Evan's sister was a bitch and caused drama, sometimes by bringing his ex around but Evan wasn't interested though I did find he didn't shut his sis down enough
A couple of really ridiculous arguments but they were resolved quickly
Evan got around quite a bit before but he was absolutely loyal to the h

All in all it worked well enough for the type of book that it is. Not my first by this author and I will try her again

This is my third Natasha Madison read and unfortunately I think I have to accept defeat and admit that this will be my last.

I adore sports romances and the blurb read so well for this, bringing in the element of twitter as an exciting meet cute but honestly this went downhill at about 25%.

There is a fine line between creating an alpha and glamourising inappropriate controlling behaviour and in all of Maddison’s books I feel she does the latter. These strong, feisty female characters are reduced to meek submissive women by their partners demands and controls and it is not a healthy image to be portraying.

It was clear how much the H fell in love with the h so quickly but the possessive behaviour combined with the complete over use of the term of endearment“sweet Zara”, absolutely killed the romance for me.

Although I adore strong family bonds, it is so overdone in this book - and the other in this series - that I feel like the lack of boundaries and intense all-inclusive behaviours come across a little immature and somewhat childish in parts. Having bonds with your family is one things, but oversharing is a little disrespectful of your relationship with your partner. Everything should not be shared and your family should not be barging their way in to every personal situation. There were certain points throughout the books that there were so many family members present, so much dialogue from so many different characters it was so hard to work out who was meant to be speaking that is completely detracted from the scene in hand.

Some of the sentence structure and the lack of spacing between paragraphs was frustrating and meant that often the wording didn't flow correctly and left the writing feeling like it was jumping from one scene to another in a very jilted manner. Throw in some editing issues and the repetition of someone "throwing their head back in laughter" and the whole thing was more irritating than enjoyable!

4.5 Sweet Dreams Stars

These MC’s had mad chemistry! I swooned for Evan and his sweet yet, alpha ways! Zara had spunk and style, and I enjoy reading about an H like her! Together these two lit up the pages with their sparks! This ended up being a feel good story, that really gave me the warm and fuzzies at times!

We got to meet Zoe, Zara’s twin sister...loved her too! I got a few good chuckles from these two twinsies! This whole gang are my kind of characters, their humor, how they love hard; they all really make me want to join their book family;)

What a sweet, fan-freaking-tastic ending! I really dig this author’s writing style! I’ve yet to read anything she’s put out that I didn’t enjoy! It’ll be over here anxiously waiting the next book in this series! The second epilogue reeled me in...I’m pretty sure it’s Zoe’s!!!

⭐️ 5 "Sweet Zara" Stars ⭐️
The Something So Series is one of my absolutely favorite sports romance series. When I read the news about the spinoff This Is Series, I was overjoyed. Natasha Madison once again put together the perfect blend of sweet, sexy and funny with This Is Crazy! I just couldn’t stop smiling and laughing all read long.

"I'll remember this kiss forever. It's a kiss I've dream about."

Zara and Evan are just so perfect together. I appreciated the unique and original way they meet through Zara’s revenge tweet inviting him to crash her ex’s wedding. This girl is so bold and witty. Her personality is really appealing and interesting.

Evan! Omg, this man! He’s just as sweet and loyal as he’s possessive and alpha! I enjoyed all his facets. He’s such a good guy and his soft gestures toward Zara are totally adorable. Their relationship evolves beautifully. From their first meeting, the chemistry between them is so palpable and through their flirty banter, texting and Facetime sessions their romance grows into something so meaningful. When they finally unleash their passion, they’re dynamite!

While this book is a standalone and the first in this series, I highly recommend reading the Something So Series to enjoy this romance at its best potential. I truly adored seeing all my favorite characters again! They gave a depth to this story!

"You kissed me. You made yourself mine when you did it."

This Is Crazy is a must read book! There isn’t a single instant of my read I didn’t utterly love. I felt so much from this breath-taking couple that put butterfly in my stomach from the sheer beauty of their romance. Now I can't wait to meet the man who'll make Zoe fall!

This is Crazy is one of those covers that made me instantly click borrow. I mean, hockey, hot man cover, and a romcom? Yes please!

In this, you will meet Zara and Evan. At first, Zara thinks her boyfriend is going to propose to her. I mean, they have been dating for a long time but let's see where things go. Surprise surprise, he breaks up with and magically starts dating someone else. With a wedding in his near future, she needs to come up with a great plan on how to crash it. Enter her great plan: Evan.

Now these two didn't really see eye to eye before they really knew one another. So, when the fake dating for a wedding thing pops up, I quickly figured out that feelings were going to soon follow. Which, yes, they did, and I was here for it all.

The drama in this was okay and so was the romance if I really think about it. Did I like it all? Well, sure. I did end up finishing the book so I can't really say that I was completely bored with everything. I just think things were a little too predictable for me. Which, yes again, it is a romcom and it's not that hard to figure out what's actually going to happen - right?

In the end, it was cute. I might even jump into the sequel if I can get my hands on it.

Natasha gives us a sweet, sexy, funny, swoony hockey beast, Evan, that is impossible not to love. Her heroine, Zara, is feisty, sassy, smart and a force to be reckoned with. This combination works ❤️

The initial meeting between Zara and Evan is nothing short of hilarious. I loved the way they both took an over the top gesture and ran with it. Sometimes the craziest things in life turn out to be our best decisions. Sometimes you have to throw caution to the wind and just take a chance. Zara and Evan did all of these things and it turned into an adventure of a lifetime!

I loved the journey between Zara and Evan. Their honesty and vulnerability with each other was so refreshing. Not a lot of drama, not a lot of push and pull, just an honest to goodness mutual love and attraction that works.

I would totally miss the boat if I didn't mention the whole hockey gang is back! Cooper, Parker, M&M and their wives. There is no shortage of excellent banter with this family. Trust me when I say you'll want to meet them!

It's been a while I've laughed and swooned at the same time and I have Zara and Evan to thank for! Oh and let me not forget about her family members that were just as hilarious.

It all started with a tweet date/dare and as they say, the rest is history. Right from the start there was some intense chemistry between these two and it just kept intensifying. Zara's attempt to find any flaw on why she and Evan would not be a good fit was just not going her way. Evan was spot on wooing Zara and showing her that he wanted more than a physical connection and it was so swoon
worthy!!! Be prepared to be wooed by Evan and fall in love with these two!! Can't wait for what else we will be graced by Ms. Madison. Kara ~ 5 Stars

DNF. Nothing crazy just not the right timing I suppose. There are all these characters thrown at me from the other series and I haven't read it so it was just too many stories I felt lost with. And then a personal turn-off-- we finally get a non-virgin h but OF COURSE she's never orgasmed w/ a guy and has barely had sex.

Loved this.
Totally devoted Hero.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
No cheating.
Interfering family members, one who tried to bring ex drama.
I've not read previous books by this author and there were references to other members of the heroine's family but I didn't know who they were.
Some of their story was touched on but I didn't know anything about those events, maybe characters from another series.
Good secondary characters that could have possible future storylines.
HEA.

4 ‘falling for the good guy’ stars!

I love this book! A sweet, fun and funny romance with very little angst and drama, and a fantastic cast of characters. It’s the first in the This Is series, a spin-off from the Something So series, and a wonderful re-entry into a world of sport romance that I absolutely love!

If you’ve read the Something So series, then you will know Zara Stone. She’s the daughter of Cooper and Parker from Something So Right, and the younger sister of Matthew and Allison who also have books in the series. She’s one of the trouble-making twins (along with her sister, Zoe), and having grown up in the world of ice hockey, she has zero interest in the sport - unless she’s supporting her brother or brother-in-law - and she has created a great life for herself as far away from the sport as possible, including finding herself a serious, scholarly boyfriend.

Unfortunately, said boyfriend has just dumped her, and three months later she sees on social media that he’s already engaged. Hurt, angry, and desperate for revenge, she decides to crash his wedding on the arm of her ex’s biggest idol, NHL star, Evan Richards. And with a simple tweet, the plans are set.

Zara Stone @ZaraStone
When your ex-boyfriend gets engaged, you ask his idol @EvanRichards to be your date to crash his wedding. What do you say? Wanna be my date?
#myexhasapencildick

Evan Richards @EvanRichards
Sounds like a plan. DM me.

Evan is the superstar of the Dallas team. He’s a regular, sweet guy and given her family name, he knows exactly who Zara is. He also figures that a night out with a beautiful woman could be fun, so he has nothing to lose by accepting her date. But he also takes the opportunity to reach out and get to know her before the big day, and from the moment he actually meets her for real… it’s all on!

OMG, this romance is so gorgeous! It’s intense and full of chemistry and it’s really fast moving. There’s no game playing or stupid behaviour – they meet, they are attracted, they act on it and they go with it, and I love watching them come together!

“I’m not going to hide that you’re mine,” he says, looking straight at me.
“First thing, I’m my own person,” I tell him. “Second, we aren’t hiding anything. We are being private.” I grab another chip and dip it, waiting for him.
“You kissed me,” he states. “You kissed me. You made yourself mine when you did it.”
“Oh, for the love of everything,” I say out loud, looking up at the ceiling. “What is it with hockey men?”

Zara is smart, sensible and successful, and though she’s initially a little taken aback by Evan’s enthusiasm, she’s brave enough to follow her heart which I really liked. And Evan is such a good guy! He’s sweet, considerate and polite, and he’s such a gentleman! But on the flip side of that, when his sexy alpha is unleashed… holy freaking hotness, the man is a beast!

These two are hot and sexy, lots of fun and all kinds of sweet, the swoon is off the charts, and their romance is absolutely gorgeous!

I love her with everything I have. I love her like I have loved no other.
That moment you see the person who owns your heart, who can destroy you. Knowing that without her, you are going to be half the man you should be. Knowing that only with her, your heart beats normal; knowing that only with her, everything is going to be okay.

I enjoyed the sport aspect of the story, and I adored catching up with characters from the Something So series – especially seeing Matthew and Max in the protective big brother roles. Freaking hilarious! But when the whole clan is together and all up in Zara and Evan’s business (all the girls, and Cooper and Parker included), it’s absolute gold!

“Matthew is freaking out,” Karrie says, trying not to laugh with the phone by her ear. “Hold on, let me put him on speaker.”
“Zara.” His voice fills the room. “Are you out of your mind?” he asks in one breath and then continues. “No, don’t answer that. We all know you are out of your mind.”
“Hey, Matthew,” I say, and he stops talking. “Is it true you threw out Karrie’s vibrator?”
“Who told her that?” he hisses. “I have to be on the ice in twenty minutes. I don’t have time for this today.”
“Who asked you to get involved?” Zoe says. “I mean, you won’t even let your wife have a vibrator. She looks deprived.”
“She isn’t deprived,” he says, “and the date with Evan is never going to happen.”
“Matthew Grant,” Karrie pipes in, “don’t you dare. Your sister is brokenhearted.”
“This is going to end up on SportsCenter,” Matthew grumbles. “I have to go. Kiss the kids for me, and you twins …” I look at Zara, and she looks at me. “I’ll liquidate some stocks to make sure I have bail money.” He laughs, but my father groans.

I loved being back in this world! Natasha has created an amazing group of characters, and she’s given Zara and Evan an absolutely beautiful love story that is fun, sweet and sexy with no unnecessary drama. This book melted me, and I loved it!

This is officially my first DNF of the year.

I couldn't do it. I'm usually a lover of sports romance but this book had some issues I couldn't overcome.

1) The writing/editing: There were random sentences that didn't make any sense plot wise - at one point Zara mentions "it's surprising Ed's working on Saturday" after she gets into a car, except they weren't talking about Ed, he's not supposed to be there, no one was asking. I thought maybe there was another character named Ed? I found myself rereading parts just to try and figure out where these random bits of information fit and rarely found the answers.

2) So many characters right off the bat: I understand this is a spinoff series and secondary characters from previous series may show up, but there were so many past characters mentioned in the first part of the book that I didn't know who was who or how they were connected. I felt like I needed a GoT family tree to figure out who was who.

The writing pulled me out the book repeatedly and was only getting worse the more I read.

I abandoned ship.

Thoroughly enjoyed this sports-related romance -- two very strong and determined characters with a family back-up plan that was fun to fall into -- dogs and all! A delightful romance between a clothes crazed fashion queen and a warrior on ice. Hockey is the game, but love is the goal always and forever.

This was the absolutely perfect weekend read! Natasha Madison sucked me into this sweet and sexy story and didn't let me go until the very last words, and even then I was begging for the next book in the series. I can't wait for the rest of the world to meet Evan, but just remember, I called dibs!

I adored This Is Crazy by Natasha Madison; this book was pure romance mixed with epic banter, set in a world that will feel like home to lovers of Natasha Madison books! No worries if you have never read a book by this author, this one is 100% stand alone!
Ok so the story.... very modern.... Zara Stone upset by her ex tweets NHL superstar Evan Richards and what ensues from there will keep you glue to this story.
I wish I could just say read story and you would but I know I have to say more....Evan is such an awesome hero; everything you want from a man who meets the one; everything and then some. His simple gestures, his grand gestures, his respect for Zara's profession and her family all of it had me falling more and more in love with every page! The use of Zara and Evan's families truly added to this story and crafted a crazy hockey world that often had me smiling from ear to ear. From M&M to the twin relationship to well... I could ramble on and one ...This book allows the reader to sit and be with Evan and Zara as they fall in love and intertwine their lives.  I simple adored this aspect of the book! The epilogue to this story was so very perfect...
Love works if you want it to and your life is what you make it....
Zara and Evan want each other! Ps I am so excited for Zara's twin sister Zoe to get her happy next... and man was that second epilogue a great tease!
