Jax

I’m a virgin, but I don’t want to be. I just want to get it over with, so I made a list. I held interviews. (I know, I’m a total Type A.) The winner is Sebastian Rathbone. Grade A Beefcake who plays defense for the Grizzlies’ Rugby team. Manwhore extraordinaire. So basically, a professional. The problem? My best friend, Matt. For some reason, he wanted me to pick him. I’d never choose him because then I’d fall in love and I remember the hell that was middle school. Now that he’s grown into his head and feet, and he is by definition also Grade A Beefcake, there’s even less chance he’d ever feel more than friendship for me. Why put myself through that? I thought I’d locked all of that away until a game of Spin the Bottle makes me doubt everything. Especially the lie I’ve been telling myself about not being in love with my best friend.

Matt

Sebastian Rathbone? Dude. No way. He’s not a bad guy, but he’s not the guy for Jax. If anyone knows the guy for Jax, that’s me. It hurts I wasn’t even consulted. Actually, what bothers me the most is that she didn’t ask me to be the one. To punch her V-Card, I mean. I’m pretty good at what I do, or so I’ve been told. It should be a good memory. Something special. And lemme tell you, Rathboner isn’t going to make it special for anyone. I don’t like it that there’s this part of her she’s going to give to someone else, but I guess I have to get right with it. I’m the best friend. Not the lover. Except when faced with losing her, I’ll have to take a spin on chance just one more time.

Spin the Bottle by Sara Wylde a five-star read that will spin your head. This is the second read in the Fast times at Ridgemont Hall series, but you don’t have to have read the first book, I haven’t, but I do plan on going back and reading it as this writing style is so funny. Jax and Matt were so sweet but so complicated as well, you really do want to bang their heads together, but also its nice watching them trudge through their journey getting to where they need to be but having at times still wanting to bang heads but others enjoying the joy and fun they face. This was such a joy to read it showed the beauty of being young and experimental, the joys of being at that point in your life where you can kiss as many people as you like, and as many at the same time as you like.
I can’t wait to read more from this author and on that note, I must say a special mention to the Rathboner mind, I can only hope he gets his own book as he really is a great character who brought many a smile to my face.

Spin the Bottle explores a time when complicated seemed simple and responsibilities were as far off as the horizon. Wylde journeys back to a time of teen angst and young love. Matt and Jax are learning how to navigate emotional entanglements, as they blossom from youth to adulthood. At stake is a friendship neither wants to live without and feelings that each find it hard to explore. It's a nostalgic ride into the past to find a chance at a future. A sweet coming of age tale that banks everything on reaching the heart.

Fans of unconventional romances will find this a deliciously decadent read that will take you on an occasional emotional roller coaster ride. When a group of eclectic personalities set out to play child’s games they end up dealing with adult emotions and choices in this second installment in the Fast Times at Ridgemont Hall series. From the first page to the last readers will find themselves captivated by this romance full of realistic concerns and angst, along with interactions teeming with sensuality.

Jax and Matt have been friends for as long as they can remember and don’t ever want to ruin the close knit connection they have. Random moments of attraction as teens have become moments of obsession as young adults though that turn a game of Truth or Dare into something more as they can no longer deny their feelings. For Jax, her feelings for her friend are muddied even more by the decision to turn in her V-card...and that the one she’s chosen isn’t Matt. Her decision brings about jealousy and fears over the future that leads to lots of heartfelt talks and unexpected hook-ups with the likable Bastion for both of them. Further clouding her thoughts of the future is her mother getting pregnant as a teen which Jax doesn’t want for herself as she wants to live life to the fullest. These fears lead to a few misunderstandings between her and Matt, and a few frustrations for readers, along the way too.

It’s the charming friends-to-lovers connection between Jax and Matt that first drew me to this story. They’re supportive of each other and nonjudgmental as they both embrace their sexuality to the fullest. They’re there for each other as a sounding board to help work through their doubts and fears and it was heartwarming to see. While Jax’s sexual journey rang truer for me, Matt’s attraction towards Bastion seemed to come out of nowhere. While I enjoyed the friendship between the two men, with their snarky interactions, their scorching interludes felt rather superficial. I had hoped for better from Matt as he’s a very likable hero, very true to his feelings, and is quick to talk through things with honesty. He’s funny, caring, and a good listener who is very protective of Jax and would do anything to make her happy. He never pushes her to do more than she’s ready for and I was happy she had such a supportive person in her life which is why I wish more time had been spent on him.

Though their journey leads to a HFN conclusion, the connection between Jax and Matt was a satisfying one that talked boldly about desires and doubts. The author had her characters embracing all sorts of erotic encounters, never sugar-coating their choices, giving them a well-rounded college experience. Surrounding these young people with childhood games made for an even more scorching narrative that kept me glued to the pages. Alongside the likable main couple is a large cast of secondary characters I’d love to see more of. I’m particularly intrigued by bisexual Bastion, whose scenes were deliciously tempting, and Jax’s friend Shae who acted outspoken but who was riddled with self-doubts. These characters were an entertaining addition to the story but readers only got to know them on a superficial level, which is why I hope to see them more fully fleshed-out in future installments. On a whole this was a decadently delightful romance, with a few imperfections, that still kept me turning the pages as the childhood games turned naughty. It’s pure escapism at times and for that reason alone I recommend this tale.

Jax and Matt, boy oh boy did these two characters make my weekend one heck of an enjoyable one.

I read this book in one sitting and it was one of those that sucked you right in and you couldn't seem to take a break from reading because it was just that good. I don't think I encountered a boring moment in this book and I loved it!

Jax and Matt, best friends forever who would tell each other everything and even went as far as seeing each other naked before without any worries or cares in the world. But once Jax told Matt that she wanted to get rid of her v-card, he seemed to have changed instantly, like he wanted her to pick him and she wouldn't because she was afraid of ruining their friendship if they took it to that level.

So what do you do when your feelings start changing for your best friend from just being platonic to actually developing real feelings for that person, like LOVE kind of feelings? And it was so funny that neither one could see their love shine for each other but everyone else could!!

I thought this book was fun. I loved the whole aspect of the spin the bottle and how everyone just got along great. There were no hard feelings when playing the game. It had many of hot moments throughout.

Sara Wylde is a new author to me and I have to say that I enjoyed this book so much that I plan on continuing to read her. I am planning on starting with book 1 in this series as I loved how all the characters interacted and everyone got along great.

Jax and Matt were one heck of a pair that sometimes made me want to jump in and knock some sense into them, especially Matt. Jax was quirky and funny and she had the best sense of humor. I loved how she didn't hold back and sometimes spoke aloud without knowing so, and that's what made her that much more funnier.

This second instalment in this series left me in two minds!
On one hand I am loving the concept of this series!
The characters, throughout both first two books, have depth in spades!

They each have intricate personality traits that set themselves apart from each other and yet they are similar in so many ways.
The struggles are real and the emotions are tangible!

I think, for me, it's more the idea and theme behind the experiments in this one that had me sitting on the fence. I was like a pendulum swinging between loving the book and not loving it as much as I wanted to!

But again, this is what I adore about books!!!

We are never going to love them all and one may rub me up the wrong but when that particular book is in a series I am so invested in (which I am with these crazy cats at Ridgemont Hall) then I'm even more intrigued and desperate to get the next book!

The way Sara Wylde has crafted these characters and their stories has me so enthralled - I cannot wait for the next book.

As much as some of the situations in Spin the Bottle were not totally to my taste I know I can still confidently and 100% say that the story behind Matt and Jax is one that will get under your skin until you can't help but soothe the ache by finishing the journey alongside them!

I am infatuated with this series and these characters - bring on the third book for another rollercoaster of controversy and angst!!!

Jax is a virgin. This girl doesn’t see it as something special - instead it’s something to get rid of with the most qualifies candidate. Resident manwhore, Sebastian Rathbone, will do nicely. Except her best friend, Matt, may have something to say about her plans.

Matt is a jock. He’s also Jax’s oldest friend, her best friend since they were kids. He’s cool with her wanting to lose her virginity. So why is he twisted up kinda jealous all of a sudden over Jax choosing Sebastian instead of him?

Everyone knows the game of Spin the Bottle. Put together a game, a bunch of college kids and shenanigans are bound to happen. In this case the sexy kind.

Young people will experiment. It’s part of the college experience. Part of learning who you are as a person. Sebastian acts like a heartless cad but still waters run deep and maybe he’s a nice guy. He also turns out to be the catalyst between Jax and Matt.

Spin the Bottle is Book #2 in the Fast Times at Ridgemont Hall series. The introduction by the author was funny and forewarns the reader, should they have a problem with M/M sex. Personally, I don’t, but found these young men much more open than any I know. There is plenty of angst to go around while they all do the will we/won’t we dance. You want an easy, breezy, quickie to pass a few hours, then this is perfect. 1-Click and enjoy.

I'll be honest, I have mixed feelings about this book. I really enjoyed it but at the same time I didn't. I think what really stopped me from enjoying the book the most was Jax. We started out this book with her looking at losing her virginity after years of not wanting to lose it because her mom was a teen mom. Once she lost it the book took a different turn. The talks and the exploration wasn't a negative for me as I feel, and understand, that all people should have that time to explore and find themselves. What I didn't care for was that all of a sudden she was all sex, any sex anytime. I also didn't like how she ran off and treated Matt after what happened, even knowing that he wasn't all to blame. She was a little self centered and it seemed like it all had to do what what she wanted and her happiness and it wasn't until near the end that she realized she wasn't considering anyone else into that factor. Otherwise I enjoyed this book. It was a little adventurous with lite steam. I enjoyed getting to know all the other characters who we meet in this book and the ones we met in the prior book. I just wasn't a big fan of Jax, sorry. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*

What the *bleep* did I just read?
I expected some standard friends-to-lover romance at the college and I get THIS? A twisted thing that I can’t even find the words to describe! It was glorious! Better than almost any other college-friends-to-lovers romance I have EVER read.
The characters were real. They were not over the top, but real with worries and expectations and fears that I knew from my time at college. They played some questionable games and I do not agree with all of their actions, but it was real. Real and – honestly – really educational, which I didn’t expect at all. I liked to see how everything developed, how they could be mature in some places and childish in others.
It was a really great read and I will definitely pick up the other books in the stories, just to see where all of this will end. The plot unraveled easily and it was quite simple to follow it. Straightforward and short, I wished for a few more pages, just because I did not want to leave all of these characters.
I cannot wait for the next book and I will definitely buy the TB (and I never to that, because of space and Kindle).

This is book #2, in the Fast Times At Ridgemont Hall series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader understanding of the series and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading in order.

Jax and Matt have been best friends. They are close and tell one another everything. When she tells him she is ready to lose her V card, he loses it. Confesses to her she should choose him. She never thought this was an option and just had not considered this.

Matt is frustrated that Jax has a plan to be intimate with another man. He has been lusting over his best friend lately and feels they need to talk about the options. She just is not in the same place. So he has to have a plan......

This is a fun and quirky approach to the best friends become lovers. Each person is quite independent, and must seriously consider if this is a move they want to make. The characters have good banter, and the book goes at a good pace. If you need to feel good and get a smile, this is the right pick me up for you.

I am definitely enjoying the Fast Times at Ridgemont Hall series by Sara Wylde. Spin the Bottle, the second book in the series, was an enjoyable read with great characters and a story that will grab you from the start. Best friends with a lot of history. Do they leave their friendship be or take a chance at more?

Jax wants to get rid of v-card and she has a plan. A very detailed plan with interviews. She wants it to be good, memorable and done with. What she never expected is her best friend’s reaction. Matt is upset he was not even considered. Why not him? He could make this special for Jax. But what would be the cost?

Jax and Matt had a great relationship, but her decision to lose her virginity changes everything. Now they are going back and forth with each other and trying to determine what comes next. Throw in spin the bottle with friends and you know things will never be the same! Though Spin the Bottle is part of series, it can be read as standalone, however, you do not want to miss out on Truth and Dare as well.

I have to admit when I first read the blurb for this book I thought it was going to be your typical friends to lover’s story with characters who are pretty much what I expect and a storyline that’s a little predictable but I was so, so wrong! This was a brilliant read, with a fast paced story line and characters that were well thought out and had a good depth to them. The author had clearly thought about the characters and this really came through well.
When I started the book and read the warning I was a little unsure whether to carry on, just because it’s not the kind of book that I am used to but I am really glad I carried on and got to read more about these characters.
Overall a really good read and I will definitely be looking forward to reading more from this series and I especially will be going back to read book 1!

I missed the first story in the Fast Times at Ridgemont Hall series, but it's one I've definitely got to go back and read. Sara Wylde's unique approach to this friends to lovers story is one you certainly don't want to miss.

Spin the Bottle was a quick read, but it was just enough for you to fall in love with this cast of characters. Jax and Matt's friendship was a lot deeper than what either of them would admit to. And though the story centers around Jax and her virginity, it made for a sexy kind of read. The story itself might not be for everyone, given the type of subject matter it's centered around, but I found it to be enjoyable. It was easy to see just how valuable the friendships were and whether or not it was worth the risk.

Wylde's writing is fun and you seriously can't help but love Jax and Matt. The fact that this story is different is what really drew me to it.

Young love - or maybe just sex - in all its complicated glory!

Jax and Matt are best friends, but Jax doesn't want Matt to be her "first" because she's afraid her hidden feelings for him will get in the way. She chooses another guy - one they both know - and Matt has a problem with her choice due to his own hidden feelings for Jax.

These characters explore sex as a recreational activity more than as an expression of love, which leads to quite a bit of experimentation and unexpected entanglements. Like the first book, this story follows a group of college friends as they develop their sexual identities and navigate the world of serious relationships.

The writing is engaging and the characters are genuine and relatable. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

An EXTREMELY entertaining, witty, smoking hot romance in Sara Wylde's second Fast times at Ridgemont Hall series! This book was SOOOOO FREAKING GOOD! Funny, sigh-worthy, SEXY AS F***, I fell head over heels for this book!

I loved these characters. They are so well developed and wonderful with spectacular personalities and the story itself is so easy to follow. Once you dive in, you won't want to leave until the very last page and even then, you will crave another read-through. I really like Sara Wylde's writing style. She knows what her readers want and like and enjoy and she brings her A-game every time. I can't wait for more!

Spin the Bottle by Sara Wylde is the 2nd installment of the Ridgemont Hall series.

Jax and Matt are best friends, they tell each other everything including who is going to be Jax's first. She has made lists and made her choice, Sebastian Rathbone.

Matt doesn't agree with her choice, he doesn't think Sebastian is the guy for her. He would prefer if it was him but that would complicate things, wouldn't it?

I love Jax and Matt's characters. The close friendship they have that could be ruined if they take their friendship too far. The secondary characters play a big part in the story too. The banter and wit between the characters is great to read. Spin the Bottle is a fantastic YA story, it's really well written and so easy to read. I can't wait for more of this series.

When Jax tells her great friend Matt that she has decided who she wants to lose her v card to, he gets upset, but then realizes there is more to his feelings. Jax also realizes that her feelings are more than just friend feelings, but doesn't want to ruin the friendship. When a game of Spin the Bottle is played and Matt kisses someone unexpected, he also realizes that it had an unexpected outcome. Jax also realizes her wish off losing her v card, but that she is also confused about everything.
This is a book about friendship, risking everything for love, and learning about ergo you are and what you want. If I attended parties like there when I was in college, I am not sure how I would have turned out. A good book and I can't wait for the next book.

This book is all about Jax and Matt and I loved it!! I absolutely love how she went back to before the first book and then included the parts of the first book in their pov. I like how it goes from Matt’s pov to Jax’s pov. And boy oh boy is this one so much hotter, it’s definitely a step up!! I am really digging this series, it’s fun, it’s hot and you get all this games that are twisted into something I would never have dreamed of adding those elements to. It’s like your living your college life while reading these books and I love it!!! And you don’t have to read the first book but I would recommend it to get the full experience!! Cute best friends to more read. Jax and Matt are best friends and neither have been willing to cross the line. Sometimes one must jump to see what they are missing. Matt and Jax will navigate their journey to more just like that. Well with a little help of Truth and Dare and Spin the Bottle to seal the deal. I love the dynamics behind Jax and Matt's relationship. When you add Sebastian into the mix get ready for some hotness. This book will keep you glued as the journey from friends to lovers begins.

This is the second book in what is really a fun little series. This book actually takes place at the same time as the first and I love that about it.

This is a great friends to lovers story. Matt and Jax have been best friends forever and together they are fun and sexy. But my favorite thing about the book was there is a little man on man action so if you can’t handle that then this is your warning. As for me I loved it!

I am excited to see where this author goes next with this series. I’m loving all the characters, their stories and how they intermingle.

This is the 2nd book in the series & the first book that i've read. i should have read the first book before i found spoilers out but it happens. This is a friends become lovers story about Matt, Jax and throw in Sebastian as well. . Matt & Jax have been friends for what seems like forever but never wanted to risk their friendship, enter games like spin the bottle & truth or dare, then things take a different turn. I liked this story and i look forward to going back to reading the first book as well as future books in this series.

This was a very entertaining read by a new-to-me author. I didn't feel lost by not reading Book 1 first, but I just might go back and read it now. The characters were fun in all their explorations. (Bastian may not be the main character but I thought he was awesome and hope to read more about him.) Very good writing... a good mix of feels and sexy times.

I liked this story, and I wish I could say I love it. There where times I just got so sick of the  childish behavior with theses characters. I did like the heart behind this story. Matt and Jax have a very complicated past and my heart broke for them at times. It was good to watch them fall. It was good to see them move past things and allow love to take over.

All in all this is a good story. A little childish for me, but I get it.

Ok I seriously wasn't expecting the way this story band out. I'm not a huge fan of triangles or more than just two people in a romance or bed but I kept reading. Be park are for both Jax and Matt to have feelings for and be with anothet. Bastion. This was a quick read with lots of surprises and twist the writing was awesome as always and I do thoroughly love the characters it just my preference as what I don t like. But I am glad I read this book.

Sweet story about two best friends discovering who they are with and without each other. Jax and Matt needed to find out who they were before they could admit that they wanted to be together. This book also explored Jax and Matt's sexual curiosity. This is the first book I have read from Sara Wylde and I would definitely read more from her.

This YA romance offers plenty of angst, emotional turmoil and humor. Matt and Jax have great chemistry as friends and as more than friends. They value their friendship and are not sure they want to risk losing something so important. A sweet, funny and emotional read that will touch your heart.
