University of Amsterdam appoints professor of HRM & People Analytics at the ABS

The Executive Board (CvB) has appointed Corine Boon as professor of HRM & People Analytics at the Amsterdam Business School (ABS) as of 1 July 2023. She will continue her work at the Leadership & Management section and as director of the Amsterdam People Analytics Center (APAC).


The professor’s research focuses mainly on the design and implementation of strategic HRM in organisations, people analytics and person-environment fit (the relationship between an individual’s characteristics and values ​​and the environment in which they work). To better understand how organisations can use strategic HRM effectively, she uses advanced analytics techniques and data (for example, large data sets of companies, or text data). She also studies the consequences of Artificial Intelligence for HRM, managers and employees in organisations.

Boon’s research has been published in a wide range of (international) journals. One of her publications in Journal of Management is one of the most read papers of this journal.

Education
The ABS professor teaches people analytics, leadership & management, and strategic HRM in various Master’s and MBA programmes. To bridge the gap between theory and practice, she organises real-live cases for her students – in collaboration with various organisations.

Besides that, she is a mentor for PhD students and tenure track lecturers. She is currently supervising 4 PhD students in the field of people analytics. Finally, she is co-founder and co-director of the honours programme Data Driven Management and she provides masterclasses and in-company programmes for companies.

About Corine Boon
Corine Boon studied business economics and obtained her PhD in Strategic Human Resource Management at Erasmus University Rotterdam in 2008. After a period as a postdoc at the Erasmus School of Health Policy and Management and Tilburg University, she joined ABS in 2009. Here she is director of the Amsterdam People Analytics Center (APAC). The center offers a platform where research and practice in the field of people analytics come together.

She is also an associate editor of Human Resource Management Review and a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Management, Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management Journal and the International Journal of Human Resource Management. She was also selected for the leadership track of the HR division of the Academy of Management; from 2023 to 2029 she is a member of the leadership team.
