What happens when you take an infamous jewel thief plus her crew, plus her even more infamous Jewel Thief father, plus 500 hundred other criminals and place them on a cruise ship with a $20Million tiara? Shenanigans, that's what you get! Imagine a cross between the Thomas Crown Affair, Castle and the Love Boat. This series is perfect for a movie trilogy or a TV show. Loveable rogues, Stalwart Federal Agents, the evergreen battle between love, duty and the thrill of the grift.

I hesitate to call it a romance because the hero/heroine are married, but as they're still new in their relationship it still feels like they're dating somehow, still discovering who they are in the context of their marriage. The best moments in the book are when Grant and Penelope work together, although it's neither of their natural modus operandi.

Penelope Blue and federal agent Grant Emerson are back. Penelope is a former jewel thief turned FBI consultant and she is trying hard to stay on the straight and narrow. Penelope and Grant are great characters and re-visiting them was fun. And yet, I didn’t really care about the mystery and that’s the main reason why this installment didn’t work quite as well as the first two for me. But I absolutely adore Penelope, her high spirited nature, her loyalty and her shrewdness. She is a kickass heroine who’s good at what she does. Grant is as swoon-worthy as ever.

With Grant’s life on the line, Penelope has no choice but to accept to get involved and backup her husband during a risky undercover mission. Penelope and Grant’s chemistry is explosive and sigh-worthy! While I’m sad this was the last part of their adventures, all stories must come to an end and this series will be definitely worth a re-read!

Romantic thriller cozy

I was provided an eARC of this book by Sourcebooks Casablanca via NetGalley. This is my honest review for which I receive no compensation of any kind.

The cover is bright and cheerful and so suits the whacky romp with Penelope and her cohorts on this (literally) million dollar cruise! The story was a bit weird and totally implausible, but so many of them are. But I am neither a high-stakes gambler, FBI agent, nor a jewel thief, so I can’t imagine living this way or even trying to pull any of this off! Knowing that if the wrong person takes a dislike to you, you could end up bleeding out overboard far behind the ship. I mean, the guy wasn’t even very nice to his own daughter. Neither of the fathers was actually. One of the fathers made his daughter wear an extremely heavy, gaudy tiara around 24/7 during the cruise that was the prize everyone was there to win or steal. The other father was in the stateroom next to his daughter while he tippy-toed around with a strange woman.. oh no, that was her mother. Well, how was she to know, they hadn’t lived together in almost forever!

The characters were done quite well for caricatures. Everyone was playing a part, so no one was just being themselves except maybe the host of the cruise, the owner of the great tiara everyone was plotting to steal! Penelope is a former (mostly reformed) jewel thief turned FBI wife and partner to Grant Emerson, the FBI agent. Penelope Blue is considered to be the best of the best when it comes to a jewel heist and everyone’s money is on her getting the jewels. They don’t seem to get it. She’s really not there to steal them! The pace was fumblingly fast as everyone raced for the final hand of poker to see who would win the tiara and still be alive at the end. The tension had you almost going in circles.

I’m not going to reveal any secrets on this one. Just to say, that Penelope gets out of it with all that she wants including her husband in one piece, if a bit bloody.

LOVED this book! This is a wonderful series that pits FBI agent Grant against and/or with his wife Penelope - a renowned jewelry thief. Because of her husband, Penelope has gone straight and uses her skills for good. This puts her as Grant's back-up on a ship filled with thieves with Grant undercover trying to identify an elusive criminal.

This is a caper style tale, except that instead of stealing the tiara, they're trying to protect it from all the thieves on the ship. As they're in international waters, no back up is available, so both Grant and Penelope change the plan without telling the each other. This leads to a very entertaining story that had me turning pages just as quickly as possible.

This is a must read for fans of the genre. While this is part of a series, this is a stand alone novel, however you'll enjoy it so much more if you've read the prior books. The author is on my must read authors' list.
